First Grade
Curriculum at a Glance
Students in first grade at St. Christine School receive instruction in Religion, Language Arts, Reading/Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Health, Art, Music, and Physical Education.
First grade focuses on building strong reading, writing, and math skills, including addition and subtraction through 12. Students grow as readers and writers while learning to live their faith through daily prayer and religion journals. Weekly classes in art, music, physical education, technology, library, and Spanish provide additional enrichment.
Classes are taught through a combination of
homeroom (self-contained) and departmental instruction,
giving students a supportive and well-rounded learning experience.

- 8th Grade Buddies – students sit together during Mass and participate in activities throughout the year
- 3rd Grade Reading Partners – students are paired to read together on Friday afternoons

- Collection of food items and monetary donations for those in need
- Field trips to a variety of local educational and cultural sites
